Paris Design Week took place from September 3 to 9 and welcomed Portuguese brands through AICEP, with the third edition of the MADE IN PORTUGAL naturally exhibition.

The success of previous editions led to this new participation, which aimed to strengthen the presence and reputation of Portuguese design in the international context by promoting a contemporary vision of the home sector based on creativity, innovation, and authenticity.

The creative direction and curation of the national participation was provided by the prestigious designer Nini Andrade Silva, who directed the exhibition in such a way as to highlight Portuguese talent by harmoniously combining tradition, innovation, design, sustainability, and sophistication.

Nini's selection of pieces combined integration into the space with a showcase of Portuguese “know-how,” symbolizing the MADE IN PORTUGAL naturally brand.

Alongside Maison&Objet (September 4-8), Paris Design Week 2025 was synonymous with emerging creativity and served as a showcase of excellence for the Portuguese home sector. Companies in the home, building materials, and creative industries took this opportunity to show the world their authenticity and design.

The Portuguese Home Furnishings Industry

The Portuguese home furnishings industry stands out for its quality, expertise, and ability to customize products. It encompasses furniture, lighting, home textiles, and household items (ceramics, cutlery, metalwork, glass, and crystal), and stands out in international markets for its spirit of innovation, sense of trends, and the confidence that comes from its heritage.

The Portuguese industry is competitive thanks to its operational efficiency, production flexibility—particularly for small batches—and a focus on quality and sustainability.

The MADE IN PORTUGAL offering stands out for:

• Sustainability—Use of high-quality, natural raw materials, responsible production, and a strong commitment to the environment.
Portugal is one of the countries most invested in renewable energy and the fight against climate change.

• Authenticity – Enhancing materials while respecting their essence, for sincere production, driven by the soul of craftsmanship.

• Tradition – With nine centuries of history, the industry combines heritage and modernity. Many family businesses perpetuate unique know-how.

• Innovation – Constant investment in R&D, process improvement, and the development of innovative products.

• Talent – Excellence based on knowledge, creativity, and design, resulting in unique and remarkable pieces.

• Design – A fusion of tradition and contemporary style, with an increasingly assertive position as a trendsetter.

• Customization – Ability to produce tailor-made products and create exclusive experiences for customers seeking differentiation.

The French market is the main destination for Portuguese exports in the home sector. In 2024, France accounted for 26% of exports in the home sector, followed by Spain, the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

The sector comprises around 7,200 companies and employs some 65,000 people. The sector's turnover was €4,412 million in 2024, with exports totaling €2,890 million.
